About Compassionate Counsel I have a Diploma in Counselling (University of Bristol) a Certificate in Life Coaching, am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and I have completed an MSc in Counselling Research. My training began over seventeen years ago under the Westminster Pastoral Foundation while I worked in the NHS as a Senior Physiotherapist within Mental Health and Psychiatry. I have since worked as a volunteer counsellor for KINERGY (a Bristol based charity for survivors of abuse), as a student counsellor in Higher Education and latterly as a Lead Counsellor for South Gloucestershire Primary Care Trust alongside my private practice. I am also part of a national network of counsellors affiliated to StresSolutions Limited at: www.stresssolutions.net. Consequently I have experience of a wide range of people in a variety of circumstances looking for help with low self-esteem, anxiety, stress and panic, depression, confusion, feeling stuck and alternatively in transition, feeling powerless or out of control, abuse, trauma, bereavement and neglect. I work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework and receive regular professional supervision. Essentially I am an integrative, relationally focussed counsellor, which means I work using a range of theoretical models and approaches to respond to your individual needs. These include: Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Person-centred, Psychodynamic, Psychosynthesis, Life Coaching and Transactional Analysis all underpinned by the quality of the relationship between us. |
